Over-winterers

Although very little is known about wintering seabirds in the waters of the Azorean EEZ, species such as the Ring-billed gull Larus delawarensis, the Laughing gull Larus atricilla, the Herring gull Larus argentatus, the Black-headed gull Chroicocephalus ridibundus, the Great black-backed gull Larus marinus, the Glaucous gull Larus hyperboreus and the Sandwich tern Thalasseus sandvicensis have been regularly observed, especially in marinas and ports in the archipelago.
